Raiders Run and Pass for a WIN in first game! PDF Print E-mail

The Raiders opened the game with a 80 yard scoring drive as Mikal Abdul-Saboor #6 connected on a 70+ yard pass play to Carlos Burse # 81 to setup the first of two touchdowns by Kwame Larbi #31Blake Grauss #19 had a partial block on the Warriors first punt giving AHS great field position for the 2nd scoring drive.  Saboor finished the 1st quarter with a 51 yard touchdown, and Alpharetta was up 21-0 at the end of the first quarter.  Saboor closed out the first half with a 5 yard pass to Nevin Harton #1 to enter the half with Alpharetta 28- North Cobb 0.  The Defense kept pressure on the quarterback and forced #14 to scramble and he never got in a rhythm.  Julian Lidback #91 recorded the first Raider Sack of the season.  Gregory Jester #2 led the defense with multiple tackles and the key was a tackle of North Cobb for a 7 yard loss from the AHS 4 yard line- stopping the Warriors on downs inside the AHS 10.

 

In the second half Alpharetta continued to move the ball well.  Assisting Saboor and Larbi in adding to the passing and rushing yardage were Derek Long #12 and Michael Randle #5. Alpharetta finished the game with 268 yards on the ground and 205 yards passing.  Saboor lead both categories  with 166 yards rushing with 2 TD's, and 9 of 18 for 175 yards passing with 2 TD's (TD reception, Harton and Burse).  Defense was led by Jester with 9 tackles, 2 for losses, and an interception.  Xavier Leonard #34 had 5 tackles, Khari Alexander #56 and Scottie Franklin #52 both had 4.5 tackles, followed by Lidback along with Kenneth Reynolds #49 each with 4 tackles.


 

Players of the Week:

Offense:            #6        Mikal Abdul-Saboor        166 yards rushing, 2 TD’s and 175 yards passing with 2 Passing TD’s

Defense:           #2        Gregory Jester               9 tackles, 2 tackles for a loss and 1 interception
