Coach Dukes attended Richmond Academy in Augusta, GA where he was a four sport athlete excelling in football, baseball, basketball, and track and field. His performance earned him the Carlos Bearden Student Athlete Award, the A. L. Williams Baseball Trophy, All-State Honors in football, and the C.S.R.A. Rotary Club Athlete of the Year Award.
In 1991, he graduated and accepted a full scholarship to attend and play football for Bobby Ross and the defending national champion Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. After a redshirt freshman campaign, Dukes was a four-year starter at the right tackle position. After graduating Tech, Dukes was selected as and signed as a rookie free agent by the Jacksonville Jaguars of the NFL.
After an injury and subsequent release, Dukes entered the corporate world, working for several large consulting firms until his decision to positively impact the lives of young people through teaching and coaching. Coach Dukes’ coaching career started working for Scott Jones at South Cobb with the 8th grade feeder league program.
For four years, Coach Dukes worked as an assistant coach at Alpharetta High School, coaching the offensive line. In that time, he has also coached the ninth grade boys basketball team while acting as a varsity assistant; as well as, the throwing coach for the Alpharetta girls and boys Track and Field team. In 2009, Dukes was named Head Coach for the Football Program.
Coach Dukes is proud to teach economics in Alpharetta’s outstanding Social Science Department. He holds a degree in Economics from Georgia Tech and a Master’s Degree in Economics Education from Mercer University.
Coach Dukes is happily married to his wife Nangula. And they are the proud parents of Naomi and Jackson.
